Over 200 bloggers storm Owerri for OMPAN Convention

Over 200 Bloggers and Online Media practitioners across Nigeria will converge in Owerri, the Imo State Capital on the 30th – 31st of March, 2018, for the first national convention of the “Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria” (OMPAN).
The convention christened OMPAN-Owerri 2018 will serve as the first gathering of young Nigerians who through a dint of hard work, are determined to make a living using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities to disseminate news and advertise goods and services via the internet.
During the convention which will be held at the Imo Trade and Investment Center, President Muhammad Buhari is expected to deliver a Keynote Address in line with his recognition of the role of the Online Media in the development of ICT in Nigeria.
In a Statement released on Monday by the Public Relations Officer of the Association, Evangelist Promise Uzoma Okoro, Online Media Practitioners in the country were encouraged to be part of the National Convention.
“We have confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari as part of his recognition of the Importance of the Online Media will on Saturday through his Special Assistant on Social Media, Laureta Onochie deliver a Keynote Address at our National Convention holding on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st March 2018”
“The Convention which is strictly for Bloggers and Online Media Practitioners is expected to handle sundry issues as they affect the Online Media in Nigeria”.
“Other keynote speakers at the Convention are: Dr. ACB Agbazuere, Former Commissioner for Information, Abia State; Prince Odunze O. Odunze, Special Assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha on Media Production; Rt. Hon. Shuaibu Sani, Coordinating Coordinator, Nasarawa Pilot Online Media platform and Peter Jones Ailuorio, publisher of New Sentinel Online News Media Lagos”
According to Okoro, the Association will provide Free Accommodation for every registered Participant at the Convention.
Other dignitaries that are expected to attend the event include the Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubarkar and a host of others.
