Sky power premises, along Airport Road, Ikeja Lagos was yesterday jampacked by former employees and relations of deceased employees of defunct Nigeria Airways Limited, NAL as the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Finance, commenced the final payment process for their outstanding severance benefits.
It was gathered that the payment process for eligible direct beneficiaries who are still alive has now reached an advanced stage, with the exercise nearing completion for this category of beneficiaries.
In a further step towards ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries are covered, the verification exercise for the next-of-kin of deceased former employees actually commenced simultaneously this week in all the six geopolitical zones. The exercise, a source hinted is aimed at confirming the identities and eligibility of the next-of-kin before the processing of their outstanding severance benefits.
The exercise reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to concluding the severance benefits payment process and ensuring that eligible former employees and the rightful next-of-kin of deceased beneficiaries receive their entitlements, subject to the completion of the necessary verification and documentation requirements.
Our source confirmed that the ministry is committed to a transparent, orderly, and accountable process to ensure that the final payment exercise is concluded successfully, it added.
