PDP’s Shadow Boxing Over Kwankwaso’s Description As A ‘Dead Party’ By Abdulmalik Suleiman 

The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso recently threw a dart in the direction of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when he rightly described the former ruling political behemoth as dead.

The occasion was the re-opening of the newly rehabilitation of the Katsina State secretariat of the party where he told the opposition party the home truth that it was not willing to admit and accept.

Rather than see the harmless banter from the former Kano State Governor as a wake up call for it to put its house in order for Nigerians to see it as a viable opposition, it is unfortunately not doing enough in terms of soul searching, PDP is rather engaging in shadow boxing.

Pointedly in its response, the PDP in an uncharitable manner labelled Sen.  Kwankwaso, as a failed and insignificant politician in the nation’s political filament.

Speaking through its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, PDP criticized Kwankwaso for displaying selfishness and self-centeredness, indicating that he is not a true leader.

The response of the PDP has shown its unwillingness to reform and rework itself, which should not really bother anyone since what Ologunagba has unwittingly confirmed what Kwankwaso said.

It must be noted that this kind of autocratic and unyielding on its stead path of destruction that it surely going to, this nonetheless cause the exit of many former prominent members such as Kwankwaso who was before was a proud member who had to leave the party in this autocratic manner.

As for the PDP’s claim that he (Kwankwaso) is a failed politician, this is a rather uncharitable claim considering the fact that the former minister has been doing well since he left their party and the potentials for greater successes in the future are still there for him for all to see.

From the looks of things, there appears to be no end in sight to the misery plaguing the party considering the war of attrition that is ongoing when major gladiators within the party are currently at each others’ throats over the control of the party.

An opposition party that presented itself as an arm of the ruling APC, where the National chairman, Ambassador Umar  Damagu led EXCO is at the whim and caprices of the ruling party and always at bed both in the afternoon and night with with the leadership of the ruling party.

If Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is not fighting Chief Bode Geirge, former Governor Nyesom Wike who is now the minister of the FCT will be holding the party by the jugular. He was recently quoted to have stated that he would paralyse the state chapters of the party where the party is ruling.

With all these, would it not be right to agree with Kwankwaso that indeed, the PDP is a dead party? I think what all right thinking Nigerians should do as a viable option for removing the APC misrule in 2027 will be to queue behind the NNPP in his quest to rework the country using the Kwankwassiya Agenda.

The call now is for the PDP which is bugged down by its own ineptitude and recklessness to remove the log on its own eyes before bothering about the ones in other peoples’ eye.
